4Let start by saying I purchased these from probikekit at a very good price, excellent service and delivery time. I chose these mud guards as no other mud guards would fit my bike due to the very close fitting wheels that are only mm away from the brake callipers. And no way of lowering the back wheel to accommodate a traditional guard. Fist impressions is that they look flimsy and weak and I still have that impression. However they are light good looking once fitted and do the job. As an engineer I had no problems fitting these (about 15mins) and also without any cutting or modifications. But once fitted they then took a good 40 mins to adjust them so they don't catch the tyres, something you don't have to much trouble with conventional mud guards. The main issue with my bike was as mentioned the gap between the rear tyre and brake calliper. Because it was so close every time I applied the brake this would twist the thin plastic mud guard onto the tyre. However eventually I did manage to adjust it not to catch. A tip for anyone buying these is to have a look on YouTube as the instructions in the box are not very good to say the least and if I where the manufacturer I would certainly see if this could be improved. Overall I am quite satisfied and will see if they last the winter. However if your after something with a little strength and don't mind the tiny extra weight and they can fit on your Bike of course then buy them as I can't see these lasting as long.....?

5After searching for some light weight mudguards for my hybrid bike I decided to give these a go after some very good reviews from fellow riders. Yes they are not designed for this type of bike but with some resourceful use of brackets they are on the bike and performing very well in the rain, well worth the purchase price.

Very good, but fiddly

OK, I knew up front it would take some work to get this set up properly on my bike since I run 25 mm tires and clearance in the back is slightly less than the advised 4 mm (for reference, bike is Scott Speedster S30 from 2006 and tires are Michelin Dynamic Sport 700x25c, pretty true to size). Most of the problems I had in the back could have been avoided with a narrower tire.
That being said, I feel it would have taken me a bit less time to set them up if the whole assembly wasn't that flimsy. I'd set up the blade, tighten the plastic screws and pull the blade so it aligns with the wheel curve, spin the wheel and voila! - no noise. Wait for ten to fifteen minutes, spin the wheel again - rubbing sounds. Pull the blade again to realign, rinse and repeat. After a few days it seems to have settled in the desired shape and now it mostly stays put.
Up front, there would be no clearance problems from the tires, if only the brake caliper arm didn't touch the blade; it gets pushed to the side and touches the tire, and there's nothing that can be done about it. I guess with narrower tires I could stick a few of the little bumpers to act as spacers, but instead I just removed the detachable tip and called it done.
Speaking of detachable tips, the package actually includes a spare tip for the front as well as both old and new design flaps for the front and back fender - very nice touch. I used the short flap in the back because I don't do group rides but I do need to stand the bike on the back wheel to fit it the elevator which is impossible with the long flap.
Bottom line, they do the job, are quite fussy but I did push them to the edge of tolerance. Would buy again.

3I have had mine for a few seasons. They are good - they work as advertised, and are reasonable priced. What I don't love is that they seem a little flimsy, and are prone to get out of alignment and rub. While it's a great excuse as to why I'm not as fast on a given ride - in reality, it's just annoying. I also found out that they go out of shape in a hot garage in the summer! I remedied that by tossing them in my oven for a few minutes to soften them up, then mounting them. Straight again. In short - they are good, but I might look for another option in the future.

Check your clearance first
3I bought a pair. They looked good and I assumed they would fit but in the end there was insufficient clearance between the top of the fork/stays and the tyre (700 x 23). In hindsight I should have checked before ordering and definitely before fitting because I would probably have guessed they were not going to work. We live and learn - if you have a top end racing bike then check first.

Great design and performance
4Worth investing a little time when initially installing these guards in order to achieve a rattle and rub free fit. I needed to shorten the rear guard with a hacksaw to get the proper fit. Performance on the road seems excellent - me and the bike clean & dry. Result.

Paris Brest Paris 2011: 200, 300, 400, 600, 1200km those mudgards were still alright tonight during a wet North east Victoria training ride.
Those little brushes, clever design and still the originals.

All-plastic construction and tool-free fitting has made the 180g Roadracers wildly popular since their introduction at the end of 2009. Rubber rings at the seatstays and zip-ties around your brake bolts and seat tube hold them in place, and the clever brushes inside the stays keep them off your tyres.
Roadracers need patience to fit. At least 4mm of space between tyre and brake is essential. A video on the Crud website is packed with hints and tips – we’ve found the key is to rotate them around the seatstays and fork to pull them into place. Sometimes they just won’t fit, especially if you have very little clearance and want to use 25mm tyres.
The super-long rear extension and front derailleur shield do a great job of keeping spray off your chain and feet and riders behind you. Front coverage is good too, though we’d like an end piece that flares like the rear one to minimise spray. One issue: the rear is so long it hits the ground if you pop the bike up on the rear wheel.
The most significant weakness of Roadracers is that the ‘releasable’ zip-ties around the brake bolts always need cutting to get them off. That done, you can take the guard off the seatstay mounts for a sunny day.

By no meas perfect but the best of what is around

Look, there is no use getting a wet bottom. These are really the only option for road bikes with low clearance.
They are built OK and will last 1 season. The ends can snap off, but will still keep you a bit dry.
Worth it for the wet seasons.

Easy to install. Fits very snug with 3mm clearance. Lightweight.
Only one gripe. They're a little too flexible. Sometimes takes a while to get a long rear guard on straight. But the scrubbers help a lot.
