Surprisingly useful - We can officially only rate these warmers at UPF 50+, but in our laboratory tests they actually blocked 99.8 percent of damaging UV rays. We used a polyester base that is not only more effective than nylon at blocking UV rays but is also much better at keeping you dry, which means these skins are better in both cooler and warmer conditions. Weve kept the construction very clean to eliminate seams that can rub, and we used our double-sided silicone elastic to make sure they stay in place. They fold up extremely small, so theyre great to stick in your pockets for your next big mountain day.
- Solare fabric keeps the chill off without causing overheating
- UPF 50+ protection
- Polyester based for excellent moisture management
- Double-side silicone elastic at top for excellent grip

Castelli UPF50 arm sleeves
Very lightweight and suitable for warmer weather. Look and feel good quality. I am usually size S in cycling gear and the S is fairly tight so if you want a looser fit you might want to size up. They seem to stay up as the grip is good.
I needed to find UV arm protectors due to melanoma. These are exactly what I want. I'm not interested in compression or warmth, just the UV protection, so Castelli have solved my problem. Just to mention sizing, the guide says go with your jersey size!! I always need XL in Italian gear, but the XL in these is very long. I'm 1.75 tall with a 48cm arm, 34cm bicep and the L may have been a better option!!
This is a great accessory for transition season and times of day. It's great to be able to take it off after you warm up and stow it in your shirt pocket. Much better than having to take off a whole long-sleeved shirt or jacket. Shipped was efficient and quick. Again, not sure if it's because of the new shipping method (which is much quicker than how it used to be), but I now get charged duty when my packages pass through customs.
Castelli upf sleeves
The sleeves fit perfectly and look great. They block the UV very well. The only issue is that I do find them too warm on very warm days. I find that for anything above 25C they are just too warm.
Sun Cool Blockers
Keep me cool and more aero while protecting my skin without creams. Feel like unnoticeable 2nd skin. I have ridden under clear sky full sun in the middle of summer at 35-40C and I was impressed on the great “cool refreshing windchill feeling” in my arms - I guess a combination of my sweat being evaporated through the fabric. Score: 10/10
Have tried these out once on a 50k early morning ride on a balmy Oz day. It was perhaps 28-30 Celsius forecast but hadn't quite reached that. It was fairly humid though. I was starting to run a little warm towards the end of what was a fairly challenging ride. I chose the black sleeves so perhaps white would be a better choice for the heat. All the gear I was wearing that day was a tight fit and black, so the sensation may not have just come from the sleeves. I ordered the medium. I'm around 5'11" (181cm) and 76kg or thereabouts. My arms are lean/athletic and the medium's were quite a snug fit, to the point that they take a bit of getting on/off if you are being careful about not stretching them excessively. Early days yet. As long as they keep their shape they will probably do their job. Will be interesting to see how they go on a longer, warm ride when the sun gets up higher.

Very light and comfortable to wear. Surprisingly keeps arms very cool due to moisture wicking effect. Highly recommend in Australian summers.
