Great Training Tire
5Simple the best winter training tires out there. Great flat protection and great grip in the wet.

5Amazing tires, not the lightness but very happy with handling and the "feel of it"
Report this reviewa great tire
5I've ridden thousands of km on these tires - they are puncture resistant (lots of cuts in the outer rubber, but few flats), they wear well, good grip (wet or dry) and the ride is good - no complaints

5Great winter training tires. Super durable and great grip. I've ridden them exclusively on my winter training bike the last two winters in the NW USA.

5I find the tyres easy to ride and do not get many punctures

4These Schwalbe Ultremo DD Clincher Road Tyres are tough and real grippy. They shrug off flats nicely, but even the mighty fall sometimes. I hit a medium/ large piece of glass and slit the carcass from bead to bead in the rain last year. Managed to put an old piece of tire inside to get me home. To be honest no tire would have survived that huge piece of glass. The front tyre is still going strong.

I like Ultremos. Great compound, light and look great. Maybe I'm asking too much from the tire, but having spent the extra for the DD's, I got a gash in the main part of tread soon after fitting. Its holding together but I'm inflating only to 80psi [on the front]. I was probably just unlucky, but was really hoping these things would last until the tread wore out. Can't say I'll rush off and get another pair, but having said that, coming home in the wet this evening on 2nd bike and my front Gatorskin punctured badly, right through main part of tread too. Had a lot of kms on that tyre though.
I've tried Specialized Elite Armadillos, and Gatorskins, and all have failed bit sooner than expected. Probably more to do with the Perth yobs throwing bottles out of car windows than tyre quality.
I'm not sure I'd commute on the DD's but as a weekend tyre they seem like a good solid option. Happy to compromise on a few grams if it really means less punctures.
Disappointing

Schwallbe your HD Ceramic belt which offers protection against cuts from flints just doesn't work ...... 5 punctures so far this year is too disappointing.
Nice tyres in the dry with lots of grip but in the wet they are bit too skittish.
700 x 25c - a great summer training tyre
5I use the Ultremo DDs as my summer training tyre and Durano Plus as my winter tyre. The weight is more than acceptable (230-240g) for the amount of puncture protection. Grip is great in all conditions and the tyres are fairly true to size. Even with the the reinforced side walls it's a very compliant ride.
