A long-time favourite

5

A long-time favourite, this durable German tire is one of the toughest options for day-in, day-out riding. Showing up to a group ride with these mounted gives you instant cred:Using the same tread pattern as Continental's high-end racing rubber, the Grand Prix 4000, there's no sacrifice in rolling resistance, and traction is impressive, even on winter's crusty roads. The 4-Season uses Continental's VectranBreaker belt under the tread to protect against flat tires, but the best feature is the DuraSkin found in the sidewall. Borrowed from Continental's off-road tires, the red-hued grid makes the sidewall resistant to cuts, helping to make the tire more durable over long, hard miles.

Excellent tyre

5

I use this tyre on my everyday bike doing between 40 and 50 km to ad from work. These tyres are great, offer excellent puncture resistance and are pretty grippy in the wet as well... I do about 4000km over the winter with maybe a maximum of 2-3 punctures in all types of conditions. I have done about 6000km on them and startet to have some punctures. But I cant fault these and would recommend them to anyone. I already have a new set as a back up when these completely worn down.

Excellent Tire

4

These tires seem optimum for ride feel and puncture resistance and have good durability. They ride better than Conti Gatorskin Hardshell but do not last as long or have quite the durability. Great all around tire for less than perfect roads.

Great rain tire

5

I have these tires on my travel bike and have ridden them in unexpected downpours while on vacation. The tires are unbeatable in the rain and sticky in the dry. They are almost equivalent in weight and dry performance to the 4000s. They last a long time, the last one I changed lasted 2000 miles before being sliced in half by a broken whiskey bottle. When PBK has a sale on them (not often enough!) I buy more!

best conti for real life

5

In sum -

currently running conti 4000S after reading rave reviews - three punctures in 500km, numerous deep cuts and nicks. ptractically useless already for hard training on dodgy glass-strewn roads.

before that conti 4000 - several punctures, split casing huge number of cuts and nicks - lasted 2k.

Before that conti 4 seasons - ran them for about 7k - 1 puncture in total - even as the rubber became completely worn thru there were no punctures, few nicks and scratches.

Can't tell any difference at all between the three of them for handling - conclusion? Back to 4 seasons for me. Quickly.

Works as a deluxe winter training tyre or a reliable race tyre

4

Continental's Grand Prix 4 Season is a winterised version of the GP4000 race tyre. It has the same bead-to-bead Duraskin mesh as the Conti Gatorskin, and two breaker strips under the tread made of Vectran, a synthetic fibre. It’s pretty tough.

The tread compound seems durable yet grips well on wet roads. Its rolling performance is merely okay, but then no tyre excels at everything, while many are good at two out of three from grip, toughness and speed. It’s a sound choice where reliability and road-holding top your priorities.

Hard wearing. Lots of grip. No punctures.

4

Excellent grip, can really feel the difference against Continental Sports I had on before. I have done around 500 miles on it so far and no puncture and no sign of wear so can see them lasting a long time. Also do seem faster than the Sports although have no accurate way of measuring this.

Highly recommended.

top-knotch

Forget Gatorskins - they have the reputation which the, frankly, far superior 4Seasons deserve. I often leave these on well into Spring but certainly don't feel as though I am being restricted by a 'winter tyre'. Give them a go and you're unlikely to go back.

yes!!!

I've been running the 28s on my rear wheel for a couple of months now (paired with a narrower tire on the front) and these exceed expectations. Comparatively light for what you get. Seemingly bombproof. Grip and corner nicely even (especially?) in the wet. These are solid enough in the puncture resistance department that I would recommend running them with a latex tube to decrease weight and increase suppleness. Great rubber.

Perfect Tire for Spring races and Wet conditions

5

Using the 25mm version, unbeatable in adverse conditions, bullet proof casing, supple and pretty fast. Decreasing PSI in wet allows you to blast away on tricky descents when others start to skid out. I have not ridden the Vittoria Pave since it would be the only tire worth comparing to that is on the same level. Compared to the Gatorskins the GP 4season is more supple and faster. Did 2 rain races on these tires and can only recommend it.
