Lezyne Carbon Road Drive 2 Bicycle Pump

The Lezyne Carbon Road Drive 2 is, in my option, the creme-de-la-creme of frame mounted pumps. While this comes at a high price, ergo 4 stars instead of 5, it will last a lifetime. The body and handle are constructed from carbon fiber and a short, functional hose is housed inside the cylinder until it's needed for inflation. Remove the hose, attach (by screwing onto) one end to the pump body and the other to your presta valve stem and you are set to inflate your tire to 100+ lbs. psi. The short flexible hose methodology diminishes the stress to the presta valve stem while affording a comfortable pumping position. Of note, the pump accomplishes the + 100 psi task, but that comes at the expense of a heated pump barrel . . . not so uncomfortable as to cease holding or pumping, but noticeably warmer than static. This pump is designed for high pressure/low volume, so if you need to inflate larger, mountain bike size tires, look at the other Lezyne offerings. The pump mounting with either the supplied carbon bracket or to the also excellent Lezyne bottle cage (w/o need for the bracket) is solid and does not rattle, move, or contact the frame. My scale has the overall weight at 74 grams . . . 60 for the pump and 14 for the hose. Optionally, you can replace the standard hose by purchasing Lezyne's pen gauge hose with an integrated (and accurate) pressure gauge at a small weight penalty of 17 grams (total 91 grams.) You could carry several CO2 cartridges and an inflation adapter at a weight penalty (do the math), but there's the 'what-if?' to address--more flats than cartridges, etc.--you decide. Like all Lezyne products, this pump exudes quality of design and manufacture . . . you decide if it's worthy of the price--I voted yes.
