Centaur cassettes are fine

I still ride two old 10-speed Campy bikes. The Centaur cassettes my not have the quality of the Chorus versions, but they work just fine. I've got on older one with thousands of mile on it, no issues yet.

Cheapified from previous Centaur quality

Galvanized cogs, rather than original nickel-chrome plated steel. Cheap resin spacers rather than original aluminum. Skips 16 tooth cog. Largest three cogs are 23, 25, 27, when 21, 24, 27 would have allowed for a 16 cog rather than jumping from 15 to 17. A disappointment, had expected better quality, will be returning.

Silky shifting!

Functionally, this cassette operates like the Record cassettes of earlier Ultra-Drive line. I installed a 12-27 before a trip to the hillier part of my state, and was amazed at how silky and smooth that the shifts were, even under load. This new iteration of Centaur nails it with the shift ramps - a real joy to shift. Now I want the 12-30, to pair with my medium cage derailleur.

Good value and decent quality

Bought this for my training bike so Centaur is a decent mid-range option. It's nice to have a 27 sprocket at last! Surprisingly good quality, I've previously used Chorus, but (understandably) they are reducing the options for 10 spd, so I'm happy with this one.
