upgrades required

PoBikeKit got the bike out very quickly and it came in great condition almost entirely pre-set up. There is a bit of tweaking still needed for the shifting but that is to be expected with any new bike. I got this for my wife - (5'11" #130) who is just starting out with long rides. The bike itself is, for the most part, a good one. The low points are the pedals (which are included), the saddle, post, and the wheelset. It comes with pedals but they are a complete joke, plastic cage style. They would have better off not sending any than to advertise pedals included. With any new bike be prepped to supply your own. The saddle and post are very low rent. The saddle itself is a flat - well sort of, it lilts off to one side. The post is super heavy. The wheels are terrible and so are the tires. I swapped them out immediately with a base ultegra wheelset and Michelin pro 4 tires - a huge upgrade in ride and feel. The ride feels pretty responsive. The Sora shifters are OK. They get hung up a little bit in the lower gears but not so bad as to make it un-rideable. I had an old set of Tiagra that I rode before uprading a couple years back that weren't nearly as smooth as these. The brakes are great for my wife but she is only around #130. I wouldn't have much confidence in them at #185. The headset doesn't allow much adjustment but it is almost perfect for my wife's stature. It is a great starter bike for the price. Be prepared to sink another couple hundred into it if you are looking for a mid range bike. Keep in mind that this bike will /still/come out costing you less than a bike that starts off with all the bells and whistles that you'll add in upgrades.

Great product, excellent customer service

I had been looking for a unique carbon fiber bicycle for a while, and when I stumbled upon the Raleigh SP Elite on PBK I knew I had found it. Living in the USA means that we don't get the full line of Raleigh bikes, so I was delighted to find that PBK ships to USA. This bike has a lower spec than it deserves, Shimano Sora is a fine entry level group set, and it should work flawlessly for a long time. The frame on this bike is light weight, stiff in all the right places and just looks fast. Fortunately it rides as good as it looks. It picks up speed quickly and handles in a stable and confident manner. I will be upgrading the group set and the wheels over time and that will make this bike a true high performance machine. Any one looking to get into carbon without breaking the bank should definitely take a nice long look at this bike. The only downside is that shipping takes a long time from the UK to the USA, so if you live over here don't expect it to show up in a few days. I would buy this again.
