The Fulcrum Racing 5 is a stalwart wheelset for many riders. Tough enough to withstand season after season of winter training, but light enough to disguise it's price point the Racing 5 gives excellent value and performance. It's a wheelset that'll see you through those tough training miles season after season.
Key Features:
- New oversized hubs with flanges for blade hammer-head spokes, and sealed high-quality bearings ensure smoothness.
- The rear wheel incorporates a new single-piece body which embodies the freewheel body and pawl carrier in a single component resulting in a considerable weight reduction.
- Fulcrum 2:1 spoke ratio on rear wheel, double the number of spokes on the drive side for greater wheel stability and improved power transfer in the rear wheel.
- 20 stainless steel, straight pull, butted front spokes and 24 rear stainless steel, butted straight pull spokes with brass nipples are strong, easily adjustable and long lasting.
- 24mm deep rim for all-round performance.

Great Wheels
These Fulcrum 2013 Racing 5 Wheelsets are fantastic. There's no flex and they spin great on their bearings. I liked my old Campy hubs/Open Pro combination, but they really did ride softer compared to the Fulcrums - and they needed truing all the time. I've only got a couple hundred miles in these, but so far so good. I've read reviews that said these were heavy, but I don't get that. I've never ridden a $1000 pair of wheels to compare, but these ride wonderfully. For reference, I'm 150 lbs and do the local cat 4 races. I should also note: changing a tire is a pain! Once you get a tire on, it's either perfect or hopelessly lumpy and won't seat itself properly until you take it all the way off and start again. Your are odds about 50-50.
Good strong reliable
I bought these as an upgrade on my entry level wheels for commuting. I'm impressed with their solidness and handling, especially over some nasty ground. I fit marathon pluses as tyres so might not be the best test for responsiveness, but a good buy if you are looking for a step up on bog standard wheels. Out of the box they are very light and a good price to match.
