For mile eaters. The Durano is the right choice for high mileage purposes, because no other racing tyre lasts longer. At the same time the Dual Compound offers greater grip for training on wet winter roads. It has a proven RaceGuard protection belt.

Faultless

Great allrounder road tyre. They ride well, last a long time and rarely puncture. That's why I keep buying them.

Great buy for roads and unpaved paths (not off-roading)

Bought this tyre after reading that it's a good all rounder for English winters and summers and have to say am pretty impressed so far. Took it on a approx 300 mile meandering ride from London to Paris this weekend and wasn't at all worried about punctures including a rocky river path along the Somme. Went over a fair bit of glass that was unavoidable on hard shoulders but it was crushed and the tyre coped well with hardly a cut on it. The weather was dry so not seen how it performs in wet conditions but would expect it to be fine and typical of Schwalbe products. It's not the quickest tyre but then it doesn't claim to be. Certainly didn't feel any resistance that could be attributed to the tyre itself. A good sturdy ride even at 23c.

Schwalbe Durano Clincher Road Tyre

Great commuter tyres, long lasting, good puncture protection

Class

Best winter tyre out there, had some on my 2nd/winter bike which is used throughout the year with no punctures, I've tried a few and in my opinion the best winter tyre. I ride continental GP4000s on my summer bike which ride better but don't last as long and are not as durable.

quiet the fear

passed the first big test during my 2 day 150 mile ride. inspection afterward revealed 1 small nick while numerous cyclist flatted multiple times during the ride. the added bonus of pumping up to 145 lbs was why i purchased being a larger rider but the long lasting wear will make me a repeat customer. feeling good about these Durano's after the weekend.

Best tyres

Come winter and it's time to do some training on the width the right tyres. The Durano is perfect for just that. They have the perfect grip in Cole weather, they roll width ease and the weight due to the extra tyre protection is not a problem. And look very nice on the wheels. Best tyres ever and no puncture so far.

What's not to like?

First, the negative: they are not the absolute fastest tire I've ridden, nor impenetrable like a Schwalbe Marathon Plus. They don't come in all the pretty colours that your heart desires. I've mounted them on Mavic, Bontrager, no-name, and Alex rims and they weren't hellish, but they required a tire lever on all of them.

Now, the positive: they rank high enough in speed, durability, and puncture resistance to put them among the finalists for a tough training tire or a fast commuter tire. They are like choosing Mario in Mario Kart: he isn't the fastest (Yoshi, Toad, etc.) or strongest (Bowser, DK, etc.), but a good all-around mix. Some people like that, some people don't, but it is definitely a matter of preference and not a shortcoming of the tire.

I use the tire on my long distance, nice weather bike which mainly saw rural roads but has recently been moved to my commuter, so none of the typical "I ride on the worst roads of all time..." spiel here, but I did have to go through an area of new housing construction that left the road covered in more tire-killing debris (staples, nails, screws, glass) than I have ever tested another tire with. I went through there often and never once had the flat tire that I figured was inevitable.

Bottom line: I would not hesitate to run the tire again, but I have not repurchased any yet because I wanted to try out more of the Continental and Panaracer lines. They still looked hardly ridden at 1,000 miles and are still going just fine at 3.000.

Impressive – a real contender for the training tyre crown

Schwalbe’s Durano is designed as a high-mileage, durable road tyre. There’s enough protection in the tyre for the off-season, thanks to a RaceGuard belt under the tread. This double layer of nylon does a good job at deflecting sharps.

On the road, rolling performance is very good. It’s a dual compound tyre and gives good grip in the wet. Overall, the Durano is an excellent mile-eating option with minimal compromises in any area.

amazing durability

I put these tires on my training wheels - I've been put into the ditch with broken glass by a bus and not a scratch on them! Who cares if they weigh 20 grams more if you NEVER have to fix a flat?! 2,500 km on them and the tread still looks brand new.

Great tire

Durability is incredible, I've had them on for so long, I don't even remember when that was....thousands of miles ago.

They roll great, a nice balance between a durable trainer and a fast race tire.

Grip is excellent, haven't used them in wet conditions though.
