Campagnolo Khamsin Wheelset

Perfect for new riders, this entry-level wheel from Campagnolo actually comes with a lot more features than you'd expect from a beginner wheel. At ProBikeKit, you're getting this wheel for a great price, which means you'll get a brilliant set of wheels for your bike that are much more than just an entry level set. - T.H

Great Value Wheelset

Great wheelset, rides nice and smooth, wheels arrived true and straight. Some issues (more with ProBikeKit than the wheels themselves): Confusing listing, it says Campagnolo hub only, yet has Shimano as an option (the option is correct, the description is not). ProBikeKit told me that Schrader valves would fit, they do not (I had to drill the holes to make them larger) The width isn't listed, but my 700x23c tires fit great. There was a width range written inside the rim, but I forget what it was. The rear hub has a loud clicking noise, nothing that bothers me, I was just used to my previous one being silent.

Workhorse

Been using Khamsins since 2011 mostly for commuting but also training and sportives. They were running true and smooth until the very last day I used them. I had an accident in 2015 and a car ran over my back wheel which was buckled. I have had no hesitation in buying another set of those. I am getting just the same enjoyment, even better now with sealed bearings. Great wheels for the price.

Performance will beyond their price.

Bought these wheels as a replacement for a much more expensive set after the rear wheel developed alarming cracks in the rim between spokes. Have to say I am very impressed with these. They are only an entry level wheel but they are smooth running and track well. They arrived well within the quoted time frame and were extremely well packed. In summary excellent product and service from PBK.

Great value

What you don't get: the best all around lightweight aerodynamic durable, low rolling resistance ceramic bearing equipped, comfortable and responsive wheel. For that, see "Campagnolo Shamal Ultra." What you do get- the best value in wheels on the market, period. The hubs are cartridge not loose ball found in higher end Campagnolo/Fulcrum wheels, but still roll silky smooth. The wheels are not incredibly light but are in fact the lightest offering at this price or even at a price near double what PBK asks for these. The rear is asymmetric and while you won't notice it, what you do notice is that the wheel handles and responds in a confidence-inspiring way, thanks to that design. The spokes are not light gauge - perfect for the sort of abuse a training wheel is subjected to on a daily basis. I own 7 sets of Campagnolo wheels now, having bought these for winter and inclement weather abuse. Of them, the free hub on the Khamsin is the silkiest, smoothest, quietest of all, in what I can only express as shock. Looking at the build quality and materials on these wheels, one is left with the belief that Campagnolo hasn't economized by making a substandard product, but rather the savings might be found in the manufacturing process - the whittling and shaving and balancing and exacting nature of making a lighter wheel- that is to say the finish on these is beautiful. If you look at the entry level wheels from several other notable wheel companies, their economy products look and feel cheap. These, DO NOT. Heavier yes, but still a great quality product and one I would recommend to anyone looking for such a wheel. AMAZING VALUE

Perfect training wheels

Bought those wheels to replace another set of older Khamsins, which got damaged through a nasty crash. These wheels are for sure not the lightest, but nonetheless, they are sturdy and roll reasonably well in various conditions. They don't catch too much in the wind (crosswind is a big issue out my way) and are zippy enough while climbing. Bear in mind that I had only done about 2500K on the last set but they had stayed true the whole time. So I have high hopes that this replacement set will be as good!

A tough wheelset from the Italian masters with super-smooth hubs and rim wear indicators

Campagnolo's budget wheelset isn’t light, but includes quality features and runs smooth and long for the money. Fulcrum and Campagnolo are closely related and the Khamsin shares the same front hub shell, skewers and steel freehub body of the former’s £850-more-expensive Racing Five wheels.

They share the same double driveside, single offside arrangement, with straight-gauge round spokes grouped into distinctive triple sheafs at the rim. The Khamsin also gets more rounded non-eyeletted rims and weight reflects the low price.

The freehub is available in Campagnolo or SRAM/Shimano formats. It picks up drive securely and the wheels track and transmit power purposefully. The open centre covers can harbour grime if not checked regularly. Not light, but a predictable handling, solid feeling and long running wheelset for the price.

(please note PBK only stock the Campagnolo freehub version)

save for an upgrade

I had the 2006 version of these wheels, and was popping the spoke nipples out within 2 weeks. Save up for Eurus or Zonda wheels, you won't regret it.

workhorse wheels

These are great value, look great and roll smoothly. They aren't exactly light though, but if that isn't a problem they'll treat you well. I've only done 1000km on them but they look like new and I imagine I'll get quite a few years out of them. For the $ that's amazing value - plus when you put them on your $5000 bike they don't look too out of place.
